Aviation is considered one of the fastest-growing transport sectors, whose activities contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants that have adverse effects on ambient air quality and public health, particularly in the vicinity of airports. This study uses statistical flight data from Lithuania, and the environmental impact is assessed by applying the Landing and Take-Off (LTO) cycle method, which enables the evaluation of local pollution during the take-off, approach, and taxiing phases. The obtained results allow for the assessment of the aviation sector’s contribution to local air pollution and the analysis of emission trends associated with increasing flight intensity during the studied period. The findings highlight the importance of the LTO method in evaluating local air pollution and indicate its applicability for further assessments of airport-related environmental impacts in Lithuania.
