31st EURAS Annual Standardisation Conference – Shaping a Cyber-Physical World: Standards for Trust, Innovation, and Resilience
You are kindly invited to the 31st EURAS Annual Standardisation Conference – Shaping a Cyber-Physical World: Standards for Trust, Innovation, and Resilience
Conference will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, June 21-23, 2027

About the Conference

Today, the meaning of the concept “cyber-physical” acquires a new meaning. The traditional understanding of cybernetics and how humans and cyber-artifacts interact is challenged by recent developments in technology, society, and economy. The growing deployment of Agentic AI systems calls scholars and practitioners to rethink the fundamentals of how we design, implement, and use cyber systems – for the first time in the history of a humankind, artifacts compete with humans in purposeful design and decision-making tasks. For the first time, learning is not anymore an exclusive capability of humans in the cyber-physical world. Under the increasing in scope and frequency cyber- and physical threats and disasters, society seeks protection by means of (novel) technologies and (responsive) technology policies. Economic imperatives set the innovation vectors for sustainability through re-cycling, re-purposing, and up-smarting artifacts. Traditionally, scholars, practitioners, and consumers saw standards as critical enablers of trust, innovation, and sustainability in the developmental agenda of the world. To drive the development of the new cyber-physical world of today and tomorrow, established dogmas need to be revisited and revised. A new breed of professionals in different domains must be educated on the critical role of standards and incentivised to contribute to standards development to shape the cyber-physical world of tomorrow.

The questions the conference invites to engage with revolve around the central theme of standards and cyber-physical world: What are the new requirements for standards, standardisation professionals, industry and consumers for building trusted, sustainable cyber-physical world? Do the old theories, policies, governance models hold in the cyber-physical world populated by agentic AI, dual-purpose technologies, and intelligent robots? What are the challenges and requirements for building resilient cyber-physical infrastructures? How the topic of standards and standardisation can further promote interdisciplinary inquiry, education, foster innovation, and incentivise laymen to contribute to betterment of the world through standardisation.

Against this background, EURAS 2027 solicits papers on the above theme or elements thereof. However, articles on other standardisation topics will also be considered. Sample topics include, but are not limited to.
