EnglishAbstract
In the design of aluminium-glass buildings, it is essential not only to achieve high energy performance but also to apply sustainable, environmentally friendly solutions to reduce CO2 emissions. Transparent envelope elements constitute a significant share of façades; therefore, solar radiation has a direct impact on the building’s overall energy balance. In this study, under Lithuanian climatic conditions, a 3E (energy, economic, environmental) analysis of six shading systems – external and internal dynamic venetian blinds, roller blinds and electrochromic glazing – was carried out and compared with a baseline scenario without shading. A quantitative research approach based on dynamic building energy modelling was employed, and all simulations were performed using the IDA ICE software. After determining the energy demand for heating, cooling and lighting, as well as CO2 emissions and financial costs over 30 years, the results showed that the most effective shading solutions are external dynamic venetian blinds and external dynamic roller blinds, whereas electrochromic glazing proved to be the least effective option under Lithuanian climatic conditions.
