Abstract

The increasing prevalence of drug use and related crime in Vilnius City is a major societal problem, with implications for security, community well-being, and the environment. Parks and other green spaces, as accessible public areas, are increasingly affected by these issues, raising concerns about their safety and usage. This study extends a previous study that examined the spatial distribution of drug-related incidents in Vilnius City. The study aims to gain a broader understanding of Lithuania and its regions, primarily by examining the situation in parks and green spaces between 2015 and 2023. At the end of the study, it is expected to identify regional “hot spots” using the results and to assess which incidents most frequently occur in green spaces. Using the Lithuanian Police database of registered incidents and geographical analysis methods, maps will be created showing the regions and locations where crimes are likely to occur according to the different years of the study.
