This article analyses the quantities generated by the pet’s grooming waste, their existing management and the possibilities of sustainable (alternative) handling. Pet grooming waste and management is an area that is little exploited. According to the register of pets in Biržai district in 2023. January 1,2305 dogs are registered, according to the data provided by the Lithuanian Cynological Society and the analysis of the results of the survey, about 1500 kg of wool is produced in this district per year. During the survey, it was found that most dog owners and fur care specialists throw away the resulting wool together with household waste. Although this waste is biodegradable, it should be handled using biodegradable waste management methods. The wool combed from long-haired dogs can be used as raw material for various textile products. However, currently, pet fur care waste is usually simply thrown away with household waste.
