Waste heat is thermal energy generated during technological processes but is not used. It is emitted by equipment such as industrial furnaces, boilers, engines, turbines, compressors, refrigeration equipment, data center servers and other equipment. However, there has been a recent increase in scientific interest in the recovery and use of waste heat in energy systems, as the energy required to recover this energy is significantly lower or completely unnecessary. Significant amounts of waste heat are generated in the industrial, transport, and energy sectors. This study analyzes the potential of waste heat generated by the equipment of a shopping center in Vilnius. Waste heat quantities were calculated using the average efficiency coefficients and the electricity consumption of the equipment evaluated in the study. It was found that, theoretically, the equipment generates about twice as much waste heat as it consumes electricity.
