Abstract

In this article is aimed to examine the concept of social capital as an economic category and highlight problems of measurement of social capital. The methods of the article are the systematic analysis of literature, comparison and generalization. Author concludes that social capital is a complex phenomenon that includes the following three dimensions: social networks, trust and social norms. Difficulties arise evaluating each of the dimensions and as yet there is no single, universal definition of social capital, which could be used in empirical studies.
