Trends in the use of augmented reality technology in the electronics industry

Abstract

Due to the increasing demand for smart devices and the ever-shortening product life cycle, the electronics industry is a constantly fast-growing industry sector, which is why the aim is to increase production volumes and reduce production costs as much as possible. A large part of the output of this industrial sector is produced by human hands, and this nature of work is the main reason for the occurrence of defects. Augmented reality technology is identified as a key technology that allows avoiding human factor errors in the production process, as the augmented reality system allows workers to access digital information through an information layer located in the physical world. The main goal of this article is to determine the relevance of research on the use of augmented reality in the electronics industry. In this study, a bibliometric analysis of scientific publications related to augmented reality in electronics is performed, and the obtained results are displayed using the ‘VOSviewer’ program. After conducting the research, it was found that the number of publications on this topic is increasing, so the relevance of the topic is increasing. A. Mantri, G. S. C. Bermudez, D. Makarov carry out most of the research on this topic in such countries as Spain, the United States of America and India.
