Abstract

In 2020 the outbreak of the pandemic led to disruptions in both the public and business sectors and required active change management desicions. When the activities of the cinema sub-sector of the creative industries were also disrupted, cinemas, reacting to the specific environmental background, implemented changes based on the little experience, although the activity extention in the context of contingencies is an unprecedented case and has not been widely studied in terms of behavioral patterns. This article reveals the concept of change management, examines the models of change management and their application possibilities in the context of unforeseen cases, paying attention to the cinema sector. Thus, the purpose of the study is to clarify the use of change management models during a pandemic and to present a draft of a principled model for change management in the context of contingencies. In order to achieve this goal, a comparative analysis and evaluation of scientific literature, qualitative balance and a structured exploratory interview were performed.
