Factors that determine rural tourism development in Lithuania

Abstract

Tourism is a dynamic and competitive industry capable of adapting to changing customer needs and desires. Modern tourism is expanding rapidly and is becoming increasingly important for the country's economic development. This is manifested through the influence of the tourism industry on the country's economic indicators. For this reason, tourism has become one of the main players in international trade and at the same time is a source of income for the parties. Thus, the tourism industry needs to be constantly expanded, and it is important to identify the factors that drive it (the development of the tourism industry). This article is dedicated to rural tourism development. The aim of this study is to evaluate the factors that determine the development of rural tourism in Lithuania. The following tasks have been set to achieve the goal: 1) to analyze the factors that determine the development of rural tourism in Lithuania after analyzing the scientific literature; 2) to develop a methodology that will be used to assess the factors identified. The results of the research showed that the number of tourism enterprises has the biggest impact on the development of rural tourism in Lithuania.
