JSC "Lietuvos geležinkeliai" Paneriai railway station business development opportunities analysis

Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyze Paneriai Paneriai Railway Station activity in the freight area, define the strategic direction of development and offer business improvement possibilities. Nowadays EU is contributing to green transportation, intermodal transportation is growing in popularity, so there is recognize the need to expand the necessary infrastructure. It is important to successfully combine different modes of transport, reducing emissions, fuel consumption, to solve the congestion problem. Reference to literature and activities of station analyzes, statistical information, there is made-up the platform of containers project. Implementation of this project will have an impact on both the micro and macro settings. On the Panerių railway station level, it will affect the economic indicators and the impact on the external setting will be measurable of contribution to the promotion of intermodal transport in Lithuania.
