IT application of air transport shipments options research

Abstract

During the transportation of shipments by air transport, it is important to assure visibility of the shipment in a real time manner during the entire process. One of the possible options that can ensure the visibility of shipments is – different applications of information technologies. The most commonly IT used to track shipments are: bar code and RFID technologies. This paper is based on the analysis of scientific literature and analyzes barcode and RFID technology concepts, scope of their usage and provides comparison of their possible advantages. The aim of the analysis is to identify which of the mentioned above technologies would be more suitable for the use to assure visibility of shipments in the process of transportation by air transport.
