Impact of European Union's economic integration on Lithuanian transport sector

Abstract

Purpose of the research paper is to evaluate impact on transport sector of Lithuania due to economic integration into European Union. Analysis is based on results of literature review, comparative analysis of sectorial transport policy, evaluation of policy integration and analysis of statistic data. Analysis revealed direct impact of integration on transport sector, giving it crucial role creating common market for mobility of services, goods and people. Analysis also concluded that effect of integration is usually evaluated using economic indicators, without distinguishing specific sectors. The paper concludes that due to importance of transport sector for Lithuanian economy, transport policy should be developed in a manner that ensures fluent further economic integration and correlation with European Union goals.
