Research of possibilities development in Lithuania public transport using ITS

Abstract

In accordance to increasing automobilization level and the negative consequenses they make it is vital to search for new ways of traffic flow management and encourage people to use wide variety of transport means. Intellectual transport systems (ITS) are being integrated all over the world, letting save money, time and energy. There are several main ITS integration methods: use oftraffic flow management systems, Bike&Ride, Park&Ride, provision of all needed information trough telecomunication servines. In Lithuania, ITS in passenger are not applied widely, althoug there is a big potential. This article is designated for research on increasing the effectivness of public transport, integrating ITS and adapting particular concepsion for the city of Vilnius and other biggest cities of Lithuania.
