The paper examines the country's economic development and economic development of the actual construction sector downturn. An overview of the Lithuanian economy and the construction industry the last 10-years development situation, its structure and role of the Lithuanian economy, and a current situation of the branch. Compare Lithuanian economy and construction sector growth in East European context, and assess whether the downturn in the construction sector in Lithuania is a regular or specific process. According to forecasts by the competent organizations, and evaluate the Lithuanian economy and construction sector's growth prospects.
