Employee voice: the two-way communication channels in swedish educational institutions

The recent study aims to investigate the two-way communication channels, and strategies to raise employee awareness about utilization of voice channels. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with HR and Line managers. Interviews were recorded and transcribed afterward. Reflexive content analysis technique was utilized for data analysis purposes and for coding and categorization of the data MAXQDA (software) was used. Employee surveys, unions, boards, and the collective and individual meetings between line managers and staff turned out most utilized two-way voice channels. Furthermore, managers suggested conducting open houses, workshops, and comprehensive introductory sessions to create awareness among employees about voice mechanisms available in the organization. The positive role of immediate managers and psychological safety measures were discussed as an important elements in fostering employee voice.
